REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCREDITATION AS AN AIS JUDGE IN REGION 7

TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE BECOMING AN APPRENTICE

  1. Make application for entry into the judges' training program. (Get applications in before July 1 to be considered for the following year.)
  2. Complete three years of continuous AIS membership.
  3. Successfully complete a minimum of two training sessions for a total of ten hours.
  4. Get the recommendations of five Accredited Judges.
  5. Own a copy of the most recent edition of Handbook for Judges and Show Officials.

TO BE COMPLETED AS AN APPRENTICE

  1. Maintain continuous AIS membership.
  2. Complete two two-hour sessions of garden training under different instructors.
  3. Complete two two-hour sessions of exhibition training under different instructors.
  4. Successfully complete a two-hour course on awards and balloting.
  5. Complete all requirements within three years after becoming an Apprentice.
  6. Complete activity report each year.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTAINING STATUS

AS AN ACCREDITED GARDEN/EXHIBITION JUDGE

  1. Maintain continuous AIS membership.
  2. Vote the Official Ballot each year. Failure to do so for two consecutive years results in automatic disqualification. Casting a late ballot is the same as not voting.
  3. Attend refresher courses or tutor an Apprentice during each three-year period for a total of five hours credit. Attendance at one AIS approved judging school is required as a part of the five hours. (At least two of the five hours must be in-garden training.)
  4. Complete annual activity report.

AS A MASTER JUDGE

  1. Maintain continuous AIS membership.
  2. Vote the Official Ballot each year. Failure to do so for two consecutive years results in automatic disqualification. Casting a late ballot is the same as not voting.
  3. Complete three hours training every three years. (At least one hour of the three must be in-garden training.)
  4. Complete annual activity report.

EMERITUS JUDGES maintain their status as judges by maintaining continuous membership in the American Iris Society.
