AIS Region 7 Awards

Region 7 has established four awards that can be given each fall.

1) Regional Hard Worker Award (Past 15 Years)

Goes to a person who has contributed to Region 7 as a whole.

2) Unsung Local Hero Award (Past 15 Years)

Goes to a person in a local society who is the person you can call upon to do almost anything, is a worker on most projects, gives cooperation for everyone's projects, doesn't get much credit but still works, works, and works for the society.

3) Hybridizer of the Year (Past 15 Years)

Goes to a person who has done considerable or notable work in the area of hybridizing. It sould be for a series of irises or even one extraordinary iris.

4) Youth Award (Past 15 Years)

Given to a youth who regularly attends club meetings, volunteers or helps at local sale or club events, enters a show in horticulture or design, and grows iris.

Nominations and Deadline

The deadline for nominations is July 1st. Nominations consist of a letter from and Region 7 club member describing the nominee's activities. Letter must be sent to the awards chairperson (see officers page). Trustees and the Board of Directors are sent copies of each nomination and vote of their choice for each award. The more detailed the letter, the more consideration it might receive. Actual awards are presented during the Fall Region 7 meeting.
